Competition
Junior Competition
At Lum Reserve Tennis Club, we are proud to foster the next generation of tennis talent through our Junior Competition. We enter junior teams into the Waverley District Tennis Association (WDTA) competition on Saturday mornings, offering a range of gradings to suit beginners through to more advanced players.
The WDTA runs two competitive seasons each year:
- Winter Season: Begins in April
- Summer Season: Begins in October, with a break over the Christmas period.
Matches are held in a “home and away” format, with some home games played at external courts based on the number of teams. Parents play an important role, helping with transportation to away games and supervision during home matches at Lum Reserve.
To participate, all junior players must be members of Lum Reserve Tennis Club and registered with Tennis Victoria. There is a seasonal playing fee in addition to the membership fee. Midweek Competition
Midweek tennis at Lum Reserve Tennis Club caters to both men and women, offering fun and competitive play.
- Ladies’ Competition: Held on Thursday mornings as part of the WDTA competition.
- Men’s Competition: Played on Wednesday mornings in the WDTA and on Thursday afternoons in the Metro Masters Competition (for players aged 50+).
Both competitions are designed for players looking to stay active and competitive during the week. Whether you’re a seasoned player or looking to rejoin the game, there’s a spot for you in our midweek teams!

Night Competition
Our Night Competitions are perfect for those who want to enjoy competitive tennis in a social setting. We participate in the WDTA Monday night ladies’ competition, and we also host two in-house competitions:
- Tuesday Night: Doubles only, with two 8-game sets played.
- Thursday Night: A mix of singles and doubles, with one 6-game singles set and two 6-game doubles sets.
Both in-house competitions operate as challenge ladders, where players are ranked based on their results each night. Winners move up the ladder, while those lower in the rankings have an opportunity to work their way to the top. These competitions are open to both members and non-members, with discounted fees for members.

Team Formation
Looking to form a team for any of our competitions? Whether you’re interested in our Senior Saturday Competition or any other format, we encourage you to get involved! We currently have two senior teams playing on Saturday afternoons and are always keen to welcome new teams for competitions like Waverley Tennis or the VTA Pennant.
