Coach profile
Michael Dracos
Michael has been the Head Coach at Lum Reserve for the past 17 years, where he has played a pivotal role in expanding the coaching program to six days per week. Always striving for excellence, Michael continually enhances the program by seeking out new knowledge. A recent trip to the world-famous Sanchez Casal Tennis Academy allowed him to learn from some of the best in the sport, including working closely with former World Number 7 Emilio Sanchez. Since returning, he has integrated the Spanish approach to tennis training into Mad Athletes’ programs, further improving the development of his players. Michael also stays current by attending various Tennis Australia conferences to ensure he’s using the latest coaching techniques.
Outside of coaching, Michael’s family is deeply involved in tennis. His eldest daughter and son both compete in Saturday competition for the club, while his youngest daughter attends weekly coaching classes. His youngest child, Luther, is still only 2 years old but is sure to follow in the family’s tennis footsteps when the time comes.
A true tennis fan, Michael admires Rafael Nadal’s fighting spirit, and when he’s not on the court, he supports Collingwood—“everyone’s favourite” AFL team.
